In 1990, Armando Lugo was targeted for gathering the design team at Portico Home. Within a year, Portico Home’s corporate annual sales volume had soared to 4.2 Million. As a result, he is one of the most sought after member in the Home Furnishing Industry. During his tenure at Portico Home, Lugo designed for a who’s who of design including the likes of: Giorgio Armani, Susan Sarandon, George Arzeno Brugal, Pamela Fiori and Ralph Lauren. Lugo’s furniture designs have been featured in Metropolitan Homes Top 100 design issue.

In 1997, Armando Lugo resigned from Portico Home and launched his design company - ALDI - Armando Lugo Designs International. His design venture took on the task of providing showrooms with custom furnishings specifically made under private label. ALDI designed furnishings for “Blue Ivy” at the Ritz, Brioni and others.

In 1998, Armando Lugo formed Lugo Limited, located at 521 Fifth Ave. This company would cater to the ever-growing need for custom home furnishing. His company’s ideals are based on “designing the way you had in mind.” In following two years, both designer and LUGO Ltd. took on numerous new accounts in order to provide new venues to express his creative design sense. Lugo helped companies such as IDS Design Center (Currently known as Dune), Desiron, & Foravi to expand their vision.

In 2000, Armando Lugo designed his first bar-lounge. Located on Orchard Street, Angel’s owner, Joshua Manson commissioned him to redesign the hospitality venue. With the concept of twilight as its theme, rhinestones covered walls, upholstered booths, & a large canopy.

From 2000-2004, Lugo helped develop Foravi’s brand image when he was contracted by them to design their store layouts, windows, and commercial campaigns. Not only did he produce the campaigns, but he also wrote and put together the ads. During this time, Armando Lugo also took on Armani Exchange’s internationally acclaimed window installations.

In the spring of 2004, Armando Lugo was chosen to redesign the luxury suites at the Fitzpatrick Hotel on Lexington Avenue. With a two million dollar budget, he transformed with impeccable taste.

In the winter of 2005, Armando Lugo became the North American V.P. of Design for Koch B. Design Home Furnishings. He designed a complete collection of furnishings, which where produced in Africa using sustainable resources.

During the summer of 2005, Armando Lugo joined “NBC Television’s Martha Stewart Apprentice” as a design consultant. One of the segments featured a suite design layout for The Westin Hotel on New York’s Times Square.
