Are you overwhelmed by your inbox?

25June12

How many emails do you get a day? 50? 100? 200 or more? Like you, I learn about several topics and sign up for all sorts of items to receive updates via email. Today, I am receiving almost 300-350 emails a day! It sounds overwhelming, right?

Well, it doesn’t have to be. Most people don’t know that you can set up your Inbox, using Outlook, to filter emails that come in and have those emails go into a folder that you can look at when the time is appropriate. For instance, one of the tools I use is LoopNet. I have several emails that come to me on a daily basis for new listings, comps, etc. I set up a folder called “LoopNet”, and whenever an email comes in from LoopNet, it is automatically puts it in this folder for me to look at when I am ready to look at them.

One of the best books I have read on how to effectively manage your Inbox is “Total Workday Control” by Michael Lineberger. You can find it on Amazon for $13-15. It has other tips and tricks that will help you to filter out some of the noise and help make you more productive with your email!

What other tips and tricks do you know about? I would like to know!
