One of the icons of the holiday season is the Salvation Army donation kettle, attended by a bell-ringing volunteer. The origin of this charitable tradition is almost 110 years old! This year some new red kettles are being set up inside from the cold, and they can be found online. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, NetGiving has gone mainstream. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles are now online and integrated with Facebook, allowing individuals and teams to volunteer and collect through their social networking contacts.
I have established a Red Kettle (that can be reached through my Facebook page) with a modest goal of $200. Please check it out.
