The 8th Annual Gathering of the stone tribe Stonework Symposium 2008 & the first ever Lithic Olympic Games in conjunction with the 11th Annual Barre Granite Festival

The Barre Granite Festival will include a number of activities such as rock-splitting, letter carving, hand drafting and etching - also music and an auction of stone art.

The Stonework Symposium will feature interesting and informative presentation and demonstrations of various aspects of stonework and stone art, lively discourse, camaraderie conviviality and the Stone Foundation's annual general membership meeting.

The Lithic Olympic Games will consist of contest of skill and strength related to the graft of stonework.

Also included will be a dry stone walling workshop, a letter carving workshop, a traditional/contemporary lime mortar workshop, tours of historic stonework, plus a dry stone walling association initial level certification test.

DRY STONE MASONRY WORKSHOP
(Registration limited to 32 persons,
Stone Foundation members only)

GRANITE LETTER CARVING WORKSHOP
(Registration limited to 12 persons,
Stone Foundation members only)

STONEWORK TOUR
(Registration limited to 20 persons,

$50 a day plus expenses

LIME MORTAR WORKSHOP
$200
