PEDRO E. GUERRERO: A RETROSPECTIVE | Event Type: | Exhibitions | | | | Company: | Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University | | Dates: | Apr 07 2012 - Apr 25 2012 | | Location: | Burbank, CA | | Address: | Julius Shulman Institute at Woodbury University, 7500 Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank, CA, 91510 | | | | Industry: | DES | | Posted By: | Rebekah Peterman | | Reply: | Send Message | | | | Description: | Pedro E. Guerrero: A Retrospective presents a rare opportunity to see Guerrero’s seminal contribution to architectural photography, ranging from portraits of architects, commercial work for House & Garden Magazine, and photographs of buildings throughout the United States. Guerrero’s work for Frank Lloyd Wright is of particular importance but the exhibition also seeks to bring attention to the diversity of his long career, including his photography of the work of Marcel Breuer, Philip Johnson, Edward Durell Stone, and Leroy Binkley, as well as the artists Alexander Calder and Louise Nevelson. Given the history and great diversity of Latin culture in the region, it is particularly befitting that Los Angeles will host the first retrospective exhibition of the great Mexican-American photographer who helped shape the reception of modern art and architecture in the twentieth century.
