Kristen has been an environmentalist since the 1970s, when she wrote an environmental impact statement for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and performed energy research for a foreign oil-producer. In architecture school, she received a university-wide award for architectural theory. Her graduate studies at Harvard concentrated on sustainable business models.

Kristen worked on the construction site of the world's 1st LEED residential hi-rise, The Solaire, and has been retained as an expert on innumerable projects. She is currently serving as LEED AP at SONY Tower, the famous "Chippendale Building" in Manhattan, as well as Costas Kondylis' The Future Condo and a Museum of African Art in Brooklyn.

Kristen is also a dedicated educator. She wrote the 1st environmental building course accepted by NY Dept. of State. At the request of State University of New York, she is creating a sustainability curriculum, one of the first to be offered at a major university.

As a lecturer and educator in great demand, Kristen speaks at large conventions, and her interviews are featured in national print, radio and TV. In 2011, she addressed the United Nations, spoke at the NY Javits Center GoGreen Expo, appeared on national Talk Radio and filmed a pilot for Lifetime TV. She has also granted interviews to the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, the Village Voice and other publications.
